There are 10 household waste recycling sites across the East Riding for the disposal and recycling of household waste.
A wide range of materials is accepted at the sites, with all the sites consistently achieving monthly recycling rates of between 60-80 per cent, peaking around 85 per cent in summer. In 2008/09 nearly 70,000 tonnes of waste was taken to the sites by East Riding residents and 50,000 tonnes of it was recycled.
The staff at the sites are there to assist, so if you are unsure of anything or require assistance just ask.
A van and large trailer ban is in operation at all the sites. It was introduced in August 2001 to prevent people disposing of commercial waste at the sites. If visiting the site for the first time, you may complete a declaration form to dispose of your waste on that visit. For those intending to make more than one visit, an application must be made for permits, which are free of charge.
From 1April 2010 all applications for permits must be made by completing an application form and returning it with the Vehicle Registration Certificate (V5C). The link to the relevant application form and information leaflet is below. For information, please contact the permit hotline on (01482) 395581.
There is a maximum vehicle weight limit of 3.5 tonnes for site users on the grounds of Health and Safety.
