The brown bin is for the recycling of garden waste and nearly all households in the East Riding have one.
The brown bins are for garden waste including grass cuttings, hedge clippings, plants and flowers, small branches, weeds, leaves, bark and twigs. The collected waste is composted.
Please do not put in the brown bins cooked or uncooked food, cardboard, soil, rubble, logs, turf or pet bedding.
The collections are very successful reaching an annual tonnage of 19,692 tonnes in 2009/10.
