A special collection of cardboard is being held in Bridlington on Wednesday19 May by East Riding of Yorkshire Council.
The times and venues are:
10am-11.30am, Palace car park, Springfield Avenue
12noon-1.30pm, Gypsey Road Sports Centre
2.00pm-3.30pm, Bessingby Gate, West Hill (outside the shops).
Residents are being given the opportunity to recycle their cardboard as part of a campaign to improve the town’s recycling rates.
Residents will be able to take along any type of cardboard, including cereal boxes, large cardboard boxes and general cardboard packaging.
The council’s waste and recycling team will also be on hand during the day offering advice and answering any queries on recycling.
John Skidmore, head of streetscene services, said: “Our officers have been working in the area to identify ways in which we can help residents with their household waste.
“It was suggested to us that we collect cardboard to assist those who don’t have transport to take it to the household waste recycling site at Carnaby.
“The collected cardboard will be pulped and recycled into new cardboard.”
The amnesty is part of Target 45+, the joint campaign by the council and East Riding residents to recycle and compost at least 45 per cent of the waste to stop it going to landfill.
