Roadshows on small electricals
Story

East Riding of Yorkshire Council is holding a series of roadshows to focus on the recycling of small electrical items.

Councillor Symon Fraser, portfolio holder for the environment and planning, said: “We are concentrating on smaller electrical and electronic equipment, like toasters and toothbrushes, because it is the fastest growing waste stream.

“The aim of the roadshows is to demonstrate how old, broken electrical items can be recycled while those in good condition could be reused. It is about reducing the waste sent to landfill.”

The roadshows, run by the council’s waste and recycling officers, will be:

  • 10am -2pm, Tuesday, 22 June, Sainsburys, Pocklington
  • 9am-12noon, Wednesday, 23 June, Beverley Market Place, and from 2pm-4pm, Morrisons in Bridlington
  • 1pm-4pm, Thursday, 24 June, Driffield Market
  • 10am-2pm, Friday, 25 June, the pedestrianised area off Boothferry Road, Goole

The roadshows mark the annual Recycle Week starting on 21 June, organised by WRAP as part of the Recycle Now campaign. The aim is to encourage people to recycle more things more often.
