In 2006/07 the East Riding of Yorkshire's recycling rate was 34 per cent.
The geographical area of the East Riding is approximately 933 square miles.
There are about 146,000 households in the East Riding.

The population of the East Riding is approximately 327,500.
In 2006/7 residents in the East Riding produced 575.7kg of waste per person.
On that basis each person produces an average of over seven and a half times their own bodyweight of waste each year (based on average weight of 75 kg).

There are 43 domestic refuse collection rounds that collect waste from every household in the East Riding. That is 43 refuse collection vehicles and around 100 drivers and crew.
Currently there are approximately 300,000 wheeled bins in the East Riding (green & blue).
There are over 140 bring sites across the East Riding and 10 household waste recycling sites.

There are currently only two landfill sites serving the whole of Hull and the East Riding.
